Grade 7 Leaving Ceremony-
June 18th 6pm – 9pm
The venues that are being discussed are Maple Ridge Secondary and Thomas Haney Secondary. Thomas Haney is the preferred location due to space and layout but we will need to look into whether we can use the kitchen for prep 2-3 hours ahead of the ceremony.
The Grade 7 Leaving ceremony costs approximately $1200, this includes the venue, dinner for the students, decorations, and a candy table.
Dinner costs approximately $11-$12 per student. Parents and guests pay for their ticket(s) to the dinner, each student will have a limited number of tickets for their guests for the grad ceremony.
The kids will be asked to vote on the location and be asked for suggestions on a theme and any other ideas they have. A couple of suggestions from Ms Blom’s class are to have a DJ and a balloon arch. Also a photo booth has been suggested.
The more money that is raised the more options the kids will have!
Grad Camp-
Camps Squeah and alternate camps are being looked into for the grade 7 grads. The total cost to send all grade 7 students to camp is approximately $10,000. Some of this cost is being fundraised.
A deposit of approximately $50 will be due in January for the Grade 7 camping trip.
Fundraisers-
Bottle Drive-January 10, 2015 10am-2pm
Location- Maple Ridge Bottle Depot 15-20475 Lougheed Hwy, Maple Ridge BC V2X 9B6

We are in need of trucks and volunteers, both students and parents. 3-4 parents and 6-8 kids are needed to stay at the bottle depot to sort the bottles being dropped off. Many Parents (with and without trucks) and students are needed to drive through the neighborhoods to collect recyclables.
The more volunteers we have the more neighborhoods we can cover and the more we raise!
Students who have not been able to sell all of their chocolates and need to can sell them at the depot during the bottle drive.
There are more boxes of chocolates available to sell. The kids can use the proceeds for camp if they want.
Currently the grade 7’s are collecting the recyclables in the school and these will be picked up each Friday by George (a grade 7 parent) and returned to the depot.

Grad Hoodies-
It was decided to use Creative Insignia for the grade 7 grad hoodies. Previous grade 7 classes have used this company and they were happy with the quality and cost. Hoodies over zip ups were chosen based on cost. Approximate cost is $35.
An Optional fundraiser is being offered to all students to pay for the hoodies. Each student will have the opportunity to sell boxes of chocolate almonds as a fundraiser to offset the cost of the hoodie.
Three logo designs were chosen and these three will be offered to the students to choose from for the final hoodie design.
The smallest size offered by this company is Youth Large but they do shrink.
The order will need to be placed by November 15 in order to receive the hoodies by December 15, before Christmas break.
Orders and payment due by Wednesday November 12th.
Sample sizes are being requested to be dropped off at the school the week of November 3-7. Parent volunteers are needed that week to help students try on and choose the appropriate size.
Class volunteers will be calling the parents of the grade 7 students to check on the hoodie order including chosen size and chocolate sales.
There are funds available for those student who cannot afford the hoodie and cannot do the fundraising due to extenuating circumstances (see Mr. Bikic).
Payment to Creative Insignia is due upon delivery.
Graduation ceremony-
June 18th is the suggested date of the ceremony.
The grade 7 students will be asked in class what they want for their leaving ceremony including the Dinner and whether it will be catered or pizza is ordered. What kind of theme and decorations and if they would like any extras such as a candy table.
Two locations for the ceremony were discussed, Thomas Haney and Maple Ridge Senior Secondary. MRSS is closer and catering by George may be an option.
